DEFINATION
Piles are dilated veins within the anal canal formed by radicles of the superior,middle and inferior rectal veins.
CAUSES
Veins of anal region are supportless and valveless thus they easily gets dilated.This disease is caused because of many other diseases and helping causes.Following reasons are mainly responsible for occurrence of piles.
1.Chronic constipation
2.Common in Pregnancy
3.Anal cancer
4.Ovarian cyst
5.Prolonged sitting and standing
6.Obesity
7.Heriditary factors

CLASSIFICATION AND SYMPTOMS OF PILES(ARSHA)
In Ayurveda Piles have been classified into six types on the basis of vitiation of Doshas
1.Vataj arsha
2. Pitaj arsha
3.Kaphaj arsh
4.Raktaj arsha(bleeding piles)
5.Congenital arsha

VATAJ ARSHA
Piles are
1. Darker in color almost black
2.Hard
3.Constipation is present and acute pain is present
4.Acute pain occurs in back, umbilical anal region
PITAJ ARSHA
Piles are
1. Reddish and blue in color
2.Usually gets inflammed
4.Bleeding is present
5.Excessive thirst, fever,diarrhea are present
KAPHAJ ARSHA
Piles are
1.Slim ,large and whitish in colour
2.Itching occurs frequently
3.Bleeding is present
4.Patient is having digestive problems.
RAKTAJ ARSHA
In Raktaj Arsha symptoms are according to the vitiated dosha. Normally
Symptoms are similar to pitaj arsha. Profuse bleeding is present.
SEHAJ(CONGENITAL) ARSHA
Symptoms are according to vitiated dosha.

TREATMENT OF ARSHA
In Ayurveda arsha roga can be treated with
1. Ayurvedic medicines
2. Ayurvedic surgery
3. Kshar chikitsa
4. Agni karma
In all types of Arshas following things are necessary to be done
1.Find and eliminate the cause
2.Relieve constipation
3.Improve digestion
4.All the above things should be done with appropriate ayurvedic preprations, diet,and advised
activities under supervision of ayurvedic specialist.
TREATMENT OF VATAJ ARSHA ROGA
1. Sanehan-swedan therapy should be done
2. Vaman,virechan,Asthapan basti,Anuvasan basti shold be given according to need.

1. Virechan should be given
